I'll be the first to admit that sometimes (most of the time) random odd things pop into my head. So this morning at 3 a.m., my random thought was about color blind people. I don't know why. I have no control over these odd “popcorn thoughts.” The reason I call them popcorn thoughts is because they are constantly popping into my head from out of nowhere.
Naturally one little popcorn thought leads to another, and another and another. As I mentioned, this morning's popcorn thought was people who have color blindness. The thought after that was: How do they match their clothes? Kind of a disturbing thought isn't it? How would you know if your suit, tie and shirt match? There is a really good possibility that you could leave the house looking like a clown and not even know it. What about shoes? How would you know if your shoes are the same color? Couldn't you possibly have a red shoe on one foot and a green shoe on the other foot? Heck I've known people that have worn a navy-colored sock and a black sock, and they aren't even color blind. What about people who have a more extreme case of color blindness and can't tell the difference between numerous colors? How do they go about getting dressed? What about jewelry? How do they know if they have the appropriate pop of color? See how this can keep a person awake at odd hours?
All these thoughts led me to think of Garanimals! Do you remember Garanimals? I don’t even know if they still make them or where they are sold. I just remember them as a kid. It was a brilliant idea though. Match the elephant top with the elephant pants and you’re ready for a fun-filled day care experience. It seems like they had different animals for boys and girls. Boys had the crappy animals like rhinos, and girls had the cute furry animals like baby pandas.
Anyway, my Garanimal moment led me to think: What about something similar for the color blind or just the matching impaired? Wouldn't that be nifty? I'm not sure what the matching symbols would be. Animals might be a bit much for a 36-year-old. I guess we could do beer, football players, basketball players, and types of sporting equipment for men. That seems like some things guys like….well things guys like that you can put on a label.
With women we could do different types of flowers. Match the orchids, and off to the office you go. OH! How about chick flick characters? Match your Thelma top to your Louise skirt (Thelma and Louise) and enjoy the evening. What about your Annie shoes, Lillian dress and Megan accessories (Bridesmaids)? This is a lot of fun! Now that I think about it, this whole idea would take all the second guessing out of women’s apparel. No longer will we have to spend half the day in a dressing room wondering if a certain blouse really goes with a certain pair of slacks. You will know that everything goes together immediately because you have matched the chick flick or the chick flick characters. One little rule: Do not mix and match your movies or characters. For example, the Pretty Woman tube top absolutely will not go with the When Harry Met Sally pants. The Erin Brockovich shoes don’t go with the Bridget Jones sweater.
I have even thought of a slogan for my new line of easy match apparel. How about this? COLORZ: Easy To Pair & Fun To Wear. Pretty nifty huh?
