It didn’t take Fort Worth long to extend the olive branch to Tesla, after Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, threatened this week to move his headquarters and other operations to “Texas/Nevada” from California over one county’s attempts to bar the company from reopening its Fremont factory amid COVID-19.
“Hey @elonmusk, Cali is so yesterday — #FortWorth is NOW,” Mayor Betsy Price said in the first of two tweets Tuesday at Musk and using the #FortWorthNOW slogan that an economic development nonprofit co-chaired by Price rolled out last week. “We have more available land than any other major city in #Texas. Our industry-leading @HillwoodDevelop mobility and innovation zone was a leader at this year’s @CES” Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Price was pictured in front of Tesla’s gallery and service department at 275 University Drive in Fort Worth.
In the second tweet, Price, shown in front of a Tesla automobile, said, “Above all, we’ve got a trailblazing, pioneering spirit and a community unlike any other. Tequila shots (post @Tesla test-drive and site visits) on me when you come to see #FortWorthNow.”
