The former warehouse district bordering Crockett Row has seen a lot of turnover in recent months.
The restoration project, Foch Street Warehouses, includes two separate buildings that date back to the 50s, encompassing over 135,000 square feet of mixed-use space. Trademark Property recently overtook the management of the property that debuted in 2011.
Here’s a rundown of what’s gone and what’s coming soon to Foch Street.
Grandeur Design pulled up stakes last year in order to build a new showroom on Vickery Street. That vacant end-cap space is still seeking the right tenant, according to Chandler Huntsman, who is the owner’s representative with Pegasus Ablon.
ZaLat Pizza is going in next to La Familia Mexican Restaurant. It is anticipated to open by the end of this year or early 2020, and will be open until 3 a.m. More on ZaLat here.
Another liquor-centric venue, aptly named The Shot Cellar, is planned for the space next door to J. Rae’s bakery. It promises over 200 craft shots, shooters and bombs, and should open within the next 30 days.
Both, Hurts Donuts and Hatsuyuki Handrolls joined the tenant list last year. But nearby neighbor Cowtown Yoga has left the building. That space is in the negotiation phase presently, and not ready to announce.
Bustling bars like Texas Republic and The Reservoir keep the center of the Foch Street Warehouses hopping into the wee hours, along with Chimy’s Cerveceria, which is tucked between the two.
Only one other hospitality-related business calls the second building home, so far.
Chills 360 briefly offered Thai-inspired rolled ice cream on Foch last year. When they vacated, it was followed by another concept that was gone in a flash. Magical Dessert Bar was only open for a couple of months serving up kiddie cake pops and milkshakes, but it was plagued by brutal publicity and dissatisfied customers. Another food and beverage concept will likely be announced to take over that spot soon.
Finally, Backwoods left Foch Street at the end of its one-year lease last June. The location will be split in two with a new axe-throwing venue called The Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL) on the back side and possibly another hospitality-related business on the front.
BATL, which began in Toronto, offers an urban venue to experience the thrill of indoor axe throwing in leagues, as walk-ins and for hosting private events, along with shareable dishes and drinks. The Canadian company now has 16 locations spread across North America, and only one other location in Texas ― that one being in Houston. BATL is expected to “get Medieval” on Foch Street by early 2020.
