Bass Performance Hall is playing host to more shows besides Broadway productions and symphony performances. Performing Arts Fort Worth, the nonprofit that runs the venue, just announced six events coming to both Bass Hall and its adjacent McDavid Studio as part of the BNSF Popular Entertainment Series.
Here's what's coming up.
Sounds of Resilience, Aug. 22, Bass Hall
Sounds of Resilience is a program that provided financial support to 41 local musicians amid the pandemic, with six of those 41 chosen to receive $5,000 grants and perform a show to be recorded live at Bass Hall. The six — Brian Kieta, Taylor Pace, Summer Dean, Juan Ospina, Ginny Mac, and Jeremiah Miller — will showcase the original songs they submitted for the program and also perform with each other.
Sounds of Resilience was spearheaded by Fine Line Group, the family offices of Sasha and Edward P. Bass, in partnership with Gallery of Dreams, and with support from the Alice L. Walton Foundation and the Tartaglino Richards Family Foundation.
Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis' Holiday Shindig, Dec. 1, McDavid Studio
Kicking off the holidays will be country stars (and husband-and-wife duo) Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, who'll perform songs off their recent duet record, Beautiful Lie, along with solo hits and holiday classics.
The Gatlin Brothers and Crystal Gayle – Holiday & Hits, Dec. 13, Bass Hall
Two other country music legends — The Gatlin Brothers and Crystal Gale — will perform together for the first time at Bass Hall as part of a new holiday production. Audiences can expect a set list featuring both individual hits and holiday favorites.
Robert Earl Keen, Dec. 30, Bass Hall
No stranger to Fort Worth, Robert Earl Keen will return to Bass Hall for his signature New Year's Eve (Eve) concert, playing a set of bluegrass-infused holiday and non-holiday tunes.
Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Live!, April 5, 2022, Bass Hall
For the kids — "Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live: Neighbor Day" will bring the popular PBS Kids show to life on stage. Inspired by characters from the original "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," the show will follow the titular character and his family and friends as they dance, sing songs, and tell stories of friendship in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
The British Invasion – Live on Stage, May 4, 2022, Bass Hall
Produced by the same folks behind "The Simon and Garfunkel Story," "The British Invasion" will highlight the hits of legendary British musicians of the 1960s, including The Rolling Stones, Dave Clark 5, The Animals, The Kinks, and Dusty Springfield.
