It’s a new month and this weekend means business with a restaurant event kicking off for the rest of the month, photography exhibitions for all the camera geeks out there, and a few last-minute summer seasonal events to soak into.
1. DFW Restaurant Week
DFW Restaurant Week is kicking off its 25th anniversary, which started with a preview Aug. 4, and is running through Sept. 4. The preview weekend will run Aug. 4 – 7 before all diner dashers can feast on the full event, Aug. 8 – Sept. 4. We know that is more than a week, but is anyone really complaining?
2. Walt Burns Opening Reception
Art Tooth presents local photographer Walt Burns at Tulips with his one-month exhibition. The opening reception will take place on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m and will include live music from Amplify 817 with Jacob Furr.
112 St Louis Ave.
3. Robin: The Ultimate Robin Williams Tribute
This weekend in the Stockyards, comedian and seasoned actor Roger Kabler takes on the late comedy legend Robin Williams through this comedic tribute. “Being Robin” is a fast-paced show with a Q & A about aspiring actors and comedians.
4. Bat Boy: The Musical
Casa Mañana brings Bat Boy: The Musical to the stage this weekend. Hailed as a “giggling cult hit” by The New Yorker, this musical hits all the major tropes of a good story: comedy, romance, and horror. The hilarious modern musical is about a half-human, a half-bat boy who is brought into town and is taught how to act like a “normal” boy.
5. Black Every Day
The Amon Carter Museum’s new exhibition, Black Every Day, focuses on photographic representations of Black Americans. Instead of solely focusing on historical events or images of strife and violence, Black Every Day explores Black culture and addresses themes of community, excellence, family, and labor. More than 100 images of unidentified photographers intersect with 50 works from iconic artists to bring a deep range of perspectives. The exhibit runs June 11 – Sept. 11.

6. Summer BBQ Series
Pinstripes continues its summer barbecue series, featuring BBQ-inspired dishes from their chef team. You can enjoy pesto chicken, Chicago-style Baby Back Ribs, burgers, macaroni, and cheese from the grill. Cowtown Brewery will be pouring their collection of beers. It’s an all-you-can-eat and drink party with live music from Jimmy Jamz.

7. Coyote Drive-in Theater
The local drive-in theater welcomes back its Date Night special, which includes one ticket transaction per car for a double feature. The translation is that if you bring a date to a Coyote Drive-In movie, you get in for the price of one.
