The details of this year's Fortress Festival are starting to take more shape, as the festival announced an additional headliner for the lineup: Chromeo.
The Canadian electro-funk duo will close out the first day of the event, set to take place April 28-29 in the Cultural District. Chromeo, who plans to release their fifth studio album, Head Over Heels , this spring, joins Father John Misty, Courtney Barnett, De La Soul and Ronnie Heart among other artists on the lineup.
Fortress Festival also announced that several local musicians will perform at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth's auditorium, from noon to 3 p.m. on Day 1. Fort Worth rapper Juma Spears and “ritual-pop” singer Francine Thirteen are among the performers, and Sammy Kidd of Fort Worth rock band Mean Motor Scooter will play a solo set. Admission to these performances is free, but attendees must RSVP in advance, as only 250 spots will be available per show.
The festival's layout is also changing. Last year, the two-day festival was held on the lawn in front of the Will Rogers Memorial Center and a stage that hovered above the reflecting pond at The Modern. This year, performances will be held entirely on two stages on the lawn adjacent to the Will Rogers Coliseum, and sets will not overlap. The layout change is an effort to "address attendees' concerns from the festival's inaugural year regarding the distance and overall entry process between the main stages," according to a news release.
More details can be found on Fortress Festival's website.
