Lowtown Studios
A new audio/visual studio is bringing the lights, cameras, and action to the West Seventh area.
Lowtown Studios opened Monday at 2733 Cullen St., featuring four stages engineered and soundproofed by acoustical design firm Russ Berger Design Group.
Additional features include a voiceover/podcast booth; full-shooting kitchen with green screen capabilities; a shooting lounge that can be staged for multiple settings; and stations for hair, makeup, and wardrobe, along with a changing room and shower.
Creatives also have access to post-production services; a Sprinter van with grip and electric gear; and equipment by brands like ARRI, RED, Canon, and Profoto.
A full-shooting kitchen comes equipped with green screen capabilities.
Lowtown is headed by Douglas Mangold, a photographer, production manager, and art director, who serves as the studio's president. The studio also brought in other industry professionals, like filmmaker Chris Rodriguez, to offer input into the planning and construction process.
“The level of quality is something right out of Hollywood," Rodriguez said in a statement.
