Fort Worth's most talented designers (amateur and professional - interior designers, florist, private schools, event planners, bored mothers with deep pockets, etc) spend thousands of dollars to decorate rooms full of tables at Ridglea Country Club to benefit Gill Children's Services and Communities in Schools. It's loads of fun and a good excuse for a daytime cocktail!
Steven Gambrel of New York is this years featured speaker. His fresh, innovative approach to color and form has been widely celebrated in magazines and newspapers, including House & Garden, Elle Decor, Interior Design, The New York Times, and New York Magazine.
All of Steven's projects share a classical sensibility that come alive with his individual mix of modern and traditional furnishings, which he often designs himself, from custom sofas and chairs to rugs and accessories.
Let's face it. A fun filled night hanging with all of the table designers, gorging yourself on the dinner buffet, downing more cocktails that you can handle, and burning all the calories off on the dance floor with the DJ. Fun Design Inspirations FACTS:
- This event is hosted by Kappa Kappa Gamma & Pi Beta Phi. (I was a Pi Phi legacy and they cut me at SMU because I went through as a sophomore, Joy!)
- This year's chairs are Carrie Lange, Lizzie Sell, Brook Wright and Courtney Prescott.
- The luncheon is sold out (as always, that's just how great it is!) but I'm sure if you pony up a nice penny now for next year, you won't have to worry about not attending this coveted event. A nice Benefactor Level of $2500 or higher will get you off to a great start!
- Founding chairs Carol Dunaway, Kay Howell, Ann Harwood, and Judy Schell started this event 20 years ago when I was in the 11th grade.
The table below is mine from last year. It took the better half of a day to set it up.
Jim Irwin did the flowers and hung the ribbons from the ceiling for me. He attached vases to the ribbons and filled them with flowers too.
I borrowed all the fluffy bunny characters and place settings from my mom (she's got a lot of crap in the attic).
I formally announced SoFortWorthIt that night, by naming my table...well, So Fort Worth It! Can't believe I've been doing this blog thing for a year now!
I always have a party favor/take away for the guests who will be dining at the table.
It's the little details and layers that add to the excitement of the design.
I hope you enjoyed seeing these pictures as much as I enjoyed designing the table. Over the next week, I will be posting other fabulous tables from this event (all table photos courtesy of Ellman Photography)...lots of eye candy headed your way. So in the mean time, I am doing a super awesome giveaway!!!
