The inaugural Art Worth festival is Fort Worth’s new judged art festival, taking place Oct. 21-23 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, nearby the city’s museum jewels in the Cultural District.
Art Worth is being staged by ArtWorks Foundation, a Memphis-based nonprofit dedicated to helping artists grow in their business and work through programs, exhibitions, and education initiatives. The festival will feature local, national, and international artists, which were chosen earlier this year through an application process.
“Our festival will celebrate new works in the heart of Fort Worth’s cultural treasures,” says Greg Belz, executive director of ArtWorks, in a statement. “We anticipate opportunities for collectors to add to their collections and for all visitors to enjoy demonstrations of fine craft skills and conversations with the artists.”
The festival will be free to the public and will also have musical performances, and wine offerings. Belz says the Cultural District location is ideal because of its verdant outdoor setting and ample parking.
“We expect Art Worth to be an ideal venue for artists to present their works for local and visiting guests,” says Belz. “This will be a truly immersive experience.”
A jury will whittle the 120 applications down to 60, which will be juried by Nancy Lamb, Anne Kelly Lewis, Janelle Montgomery, Pam Summers, Lauren Saba, and Peeler Howell.
“Everyone can expect a full weekend of art, craft, music, food, and more,” Belz adds. “Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and make a day of it.”
Or three days of it.
