The Fort Works Art Gallery is inviting the public to take a peek behind the curtain with "The Works," a group exhibition showcasing a range of local and international artists, according to a release. The show runs Sept. 6 – Oct. 25, coinciding with the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association’s Fall Gallery Night. An opening reception is set for Sept. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The exhibition features established and emerging voices, including Greg Bahr, Rachel English, Jodi Gerbi, Joshua Goode, Alonsa Guevara, Kerri Menchaca, James Razko, Lawrence Schiller, and Jay Wilkinson. Many pieces on display will be debuting for the first time, giving visitors a chance to explore new work across a variety of mediums.

Joshua Goode, chair of the Fine Arts Department at Tarrant County College South, presents work that blurs the line between history and invention. His projects often stage performative excavations, some in partnership with local institutions like the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, uncovering fabricated artifacts from his imagined Aurora-Rhoman Civilization. Through these playful, meticulously crafted relics, Goode reframes pop culture and childhood memory as if they were ancient history. His work has traveled internationally to Spain, Germany, Russia, Croatia, Egypt, Italy, China, Belgium, and across the United States.
Rachel English captures the expansive skies of Texas with oil paintings that turn fleeting cloud formations into immersive, contemplative experiences. Inspired by long drives and quiet moments spent under open skies, English builds layers of atmosphere in her work, creating a sense of stillness that resonates with her interest in astronomy and physics.
B Shawn Cox brings West Texas landscapes and iconography into sharp focus with his lenticular portraits. His pieces blend satire with cinematic realism, producing richly textured works that draw on regional culture while challenging viewers’ expectations of portraiture.
Lauren Saba, owner and director of Fort Works Art, says, “Being an exhibition-focused gallery, we often miss out on being able to view a large body of individual works by a variety of artists across all genres and mediums. 'The Works' is essentially a glimpse at our secretly coveted backroom and all of our beautiful pieces we carry, that only those who are normally invited get to experience.”
