After a successful first year, Fortress Festival, North Texas’ premier music festival, is back and just released the lineup for 2018. The second annual event will be taking place April 28-29 in the Cultural District.
This year's lineup features a mix of funk, soul and '90s nostalgia hip-hop artists. It also features many female-led groups and acclaimed singer/songwriters like Father John Misty and Grammy-nominated Australian artist Courtney Barnett. Six local acts will also be taking the stage at this year's festival, including Fort Worth's Ronnie Heart, Henry the Archer and Andy Pickett.
Fortress Festival is a partnership between Fortress Presents and The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Last year, more than 9,000 people attended the two-day festival that was held on the lawn in front of the Will Rogers Memorial Center and a stage that hovered above the reflecting pond at The Modern. Run the Jewels and Nathaniel Rateliff were two of the featured artists on the 2017 lineup.
According to a news release, last year's attendees expressed concerns about the distance and overall entry process between the main stages. To alleviate this, Fortress Fest plans to announce a new, unified layout at a future date.
