Pop-up dinners and private dining events are a thing in Fort Worth, and one of the city’s most lauded chefs has hopped on the trend as well.
Chef Jon Bonnell’s private dining concept Coscia, which launched in January, will be hosting its next events June 19 and June 26, with no dining event planned for July. The dinners take place in the private dining room of Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine.
To participate, prospective diners must make a reservation via phone. Reservations are first come, first serve, and Coscia limits each dinner to 30 people. The hostess will then notify diners if they’ve secured a seat or are on the waitlist.
Bonnell’s executive chef Spencer Marks is responsible for execution of the monthly, private supper clubs.
"We have had six very successful events thus far and are starting to gain a great following," Marks says.
While Bonnell's menu is well-known for its wild game and Southwestern appeal, Coscia's five-course meals are more contemporary, seasonal takes, and Marks does not finalize the menus until he knows what fresh produce will be on hand. Past menus have included starters made with barley, yogurt, avocado, baby kale and hazelnuts, and dry-aged, grass-fed beef with red potatoes and herbs.
Marks says this month’s dinner will likely feature chilled corn soup, a taco dish and smoked pork shoulder.
Dinners are $55 per person, with an optional wine pairing for an additional $55. Guests also have access to the entire Bonnell's bar.
Coscia announces dinners on the first Tuesday of the month. Call 817-738-5489 for more information.
