There’s something electric in the air when rising country music star Lainey Wilson steps onto a stage — an unmistakable charge that turns a crowd into a chorus and a night into a memory. It’s that kind of energy she’s set to unleash on the world with the just-announced “Whirlwind World Tour,” kicking off this March.
The Grammy, CMA, and ACM Award-winning dynamo is taking her firebrand of country music to the masses, powered by the road-tested muscle of Live Nation and backed by Coors Light and Wrangler — two brands as stitched into the fabric of country culture as a steel guitar. The tour will see Wilson tearing through Texas with stops at Austin’s Moody Center (September 18), our very own Dickies Arena (September 19), and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston (September 20). Southern-fried support comes courtesy of Muscadine Bloodline and Drake Milligan, artists who know a thing or two about telling stories that hit like a late-night whiskey pour.
Fans who ride or die for Wilson’s music — the Wild Horses, as they call themselves — get first dibs on tickets, with exclusive presale access beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 8 a.m. Citi cardmembers follow suit at 10 a.m., with their own pre-sale window lasting through Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10 p.m. via Citi Entertainment. Meanwhile, Verizon is rolling out the VIP carpet for its customers with early-bird access starting Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. For the rest of the world, the general on-sale kicks off Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m.
If 2024 was any indication, Wilson’s got the kind of momentum that doesn’t just open doors — it kicks them clean off their hinges. This weekend, she’s up for Best Country Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for “Whirlwind,” a record that cemented her place in the mainstream without losing an ounce of backroad authenticity. Produced by the sonic architect Jay Joyce (the genius behind some of Miranda Lambert and Eric Church’s best work), the album debuted at #8 on the all-genre Billboard 200 — Wilson’s first top-10 entry and her strongest sales week yet. And with “4x4xU” climbing toward the summit of country radio, she’s eyeing her eighth #1 hit.
And that’s just the last 12 months.
She’s been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, played the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show, hosted the CMA Awards alongside Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan, and racked up wins at the ACMs, CMAs, and Grammys — including the coveted Triple Crown and Milestone Award at the ACM Honors.
Beyond the stage, Wilson’s name is etched into songwriting credits that stretch across Nashville and beyond — collaborating with Post Malone (“Nosedive”), Cole Swindell (“Never Say Never”), Jelly Roll (“Save Me”), and HARDY (“wait in the truck”). And just in case she wasn’t busy enough, she took a star turn on “Yellowstone,” making her acting debut in season five before returning for the series’ grand finale. Her song “Out of Oklahoma” even landed a spot in the new “Twisters” movie.
It’s not just a tour—it’s a full-circle moment for an artist who’s never stopped moving, never stopped chasing that next song, that next stage, that next connection with the people who see their lives reflected in her music. And if this past year has been any indication, Wilson isn’t just riding the “Whirlwind” — she is the storm.
