Rambo Elliott
Leon Bridges
It’s been almost a year to the day since Leon Bridges took the stage for his memorable headlining show at Fortress Festival — the last time Funkytown’s favorite son played for his hometown crowd (shows in Dallas excluded). So, it’s fitting that, on Thursday at 8 p.m, Leon will be taking the stage — virtually, that is — to help bring a smile and some much-needed relief to his Southside neighbors.
Accompanied by friend and fellow Fort Worthian Abraham Alexander, the free digital show will benefit the Southside C.A.R.E.S. Fund. According a description on the event's Facebook page, the fund “offers $250 relief grants to Near Southside creatives, gig and service workers that are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19.”
The show is in partnership with Kent & Wine Co., Fort Worth Weekly, and Schaefer Advertising Agency.
The concert will livestream at bit.ly/leoncares, and you can donate to the Southside C.A.R.E.S. Fund at wegetbytogether.com.
