The last month has been a bit of a whirlwind for Linkin Parks fans, who out of disbelief have had to come to grips with the band announcing the addition of new lead singer, Emily Armstrong.
No matter who the band picked to replace former lead singer Chester Bennington (who died by suicide on July 20, 2017) it would seem an almost impossible hole to fill. After all, Bennington, besides being a cofounding member of Linkin Park, was also the voice behind the band’s biggest hits.
Almost instantly recognizable, Bennington’s range went from a soft croon to a violent scream on the drop of a dime. This would be a hard vocal style for any male vocalist to tackle, let alone a woman. But this is exactly the direction the band chose to go on their latest album From Zero, which drops on November 15.
Armstrong’s arrival has been polarizing at best, with some fans happy to see Linkin Park back in the spotlight since it’s been seven years since its last release, One More Light. On the flip side, there are also some fans who aren’t on board with Armstrong in the lead singer role, specifically Bennington’s son Jaime. Whatever category you belong in, there’s almost an undeniable curiosity that arises from such a pairing. So much so, that a recent Linkin Park concert video showcasing Armstrong’s voice, which dropped two weeks ago via YouTube, has millions of views.
However, if you’re a music fan, then you know a band’s truest measure of sound is in its live shows. And if you’re a Linkin Park fan living in North Texas, the opportunity to hear the band’s new line up live is just around the corner.
Mere days before the release of their latest album, From Zero, which references the band’s original moniker, Linkin Park will perform at Globe Life Field on November 8. The lineup, minus Armstrong, consists of other cofounding members Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn, and Brad Delson. Other new members of the band include Dave “Phoenix” Farrell on bass, and Colin Brittain on drums. These two members along with Armstrong create a new amalgamation of Linkin Park, that oddly still has chops.
Running off the momentum of their latest single, “Heavy Is The Crown,” which serves as the 2024 League of Legends World Championship Anthem, Linkin Park is in full tour mode. Labeled the From Zero Tour, which sold out in minutes after it was announced, Linkin Park made the decision to add three additional shows to meet with the high demand.
LP Underground fan club exclusive presales start on September 25 and general on-sales start on September 27. Get all details and tickets HERE, and get a glimpse inside the From Zero World Tour HERE.
Since its release, Linkin Parks’ single “The Emptiness Machine” shot to the Top 5 of the Spotify Global Chart, landed at No.1 on both the Alternative and Rock Radio charts, catapulted to No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative and Rock Airplay Chart, and infiltrated the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 21. Not to mention, Linkin Park achieved another benchmark, exceeding over 54 million monthly listeners on Spotify and becoming “the top-streamed rock band on the platform” and one of the “40 top-streamed artists globally on the platform.”
“Ultimately, with From Zero, the band is looking to harness the purest energy of their past, present, and future,” a release read. “The new era has officially begun.”
