Polish up those spurs: A trifecta of fun fit for cowboys and cowgirls alike approaches.
The Multicultural Western Heritage Museum’s weekend-long celebration for the 2019 National Day of the American Cowboy kicks off Friday, July 26. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the Hall of Fame Rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum, 121 E. Exchange Ave., and the show gets going at 8 p.m.
Tickets run $35 for box seats, $25 general admission, and $15 for kids ages 12 and under. All proceeds go toward educational programs the museum holds.
Next day, you can make plans to attend the Western Heritage Symposium from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Radisson Hotel at 2540 Meacham Boulevard. Authors and historians alike will share history lessons by way of free, educational presentations.
That same evening, you can cap the weekend with the Hall of Fame Induction Banquet from at the Radisson. With the reception set for 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m., a host of nominees will be welcomed into the museum’s eternal esteem. Guests at 9 p.m. will then be serenaded by Grammy award winning guitarist Norman Brown and Saxophonist Tom Braxton.
