Some of Texas’ biggest “Red Dirt” country stars, plus radio personalities from all over the nation will be making an appearance at the 14th annual Texas Regional Radio Report’s (T3R) Texas Music & Radio awards ceremony happening on March 24 - 25 in Arlington.
The lineup of country music artist attending this two-day event being held at Texas Live! include appearances from Aaron Watson, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Kevin Fowler, Jenni Dale Lord, Payton Howie, and Olivia Harms, to name a few.
Besides making an appearance at this ceremony, country star Pat Green will receive the T3R Humanitarian Award for assisting people in need through his non-profit, The Pat Green Foundation. Beside this spotlight, the T3R TMRA will also feature a spicy melody from several Texas Latino artists that include, Tejano Grammy winner, Sunny Sauceda, honky-tonk mariachi queen, Stephanie Urbina-Jones, and bolero-mariachi singer, Willie Alvarado, plus many more.
Established in 2004, T3R was developed to bring credible recognition to a genre of music known as Texas “Red Dirt” being played in the regional market. Today, T3R has become the industry standard of monitoring Texas “Red Dirt” airplay and led to the creation of the Texas Regional Radio Music Association (TRRMA) and the T3R Texas Music & Radio Awards in 2010.
Even further back than this, the Texas “Red Dirt” movement kicked off over 30 years ago with the likes of Green, Kevin Fowler, Robert Earl Keen, and many more. These pioneer artists helped blaze a trail in the music industry, when radio programmers started incorporating music from this subgenre of country artists into their playlists. Ten years later, T3R was able to create a monitoring system to rank the songs according to the airplay reported by the chart’s partner stations to keep track of their momentum.
The Texas Regional Radio Report Chart still appears in Billboard Magazine to this very day. To add to this initiative, Dave Smith, owner of the Texas Regional Radio Report, believed in helping Texas Music grow by starting the T3R Awards, which honors artists, radio, festivals, record producers, and other music industry professionals.
