While on its year-long tour across the metroplex, the Texas Rangers’ well-earned Commissioner’s Trophy made a little pit stop at the Fort Worth Magazine offices. The 30-pound trophy, which was awarded to the franchise this past October after its first World Series victory, is made of sterling silver and sports a design by the famed Tiffany & Co. -- a slight redesign that was unveiled in 2000. The 30 gold-plated flags represent the 30 MLB teams, of which six have never won hoisted a Commissioner’s Trophy. Unlike the Stanley Cup, which changes hands between winning teams, a new Commissioner’s Trophy is made every year. So, this impressive prize will be in the area for the long haul.
