Selfie Factory
La Gran Plaza has a new place to help Instagrammers fill their feeds with #content.
Selfie Factory is opening Thursday at 4200 S. Freeway, Ste. 1990, inside an approximately 1,900-square-foot space that features over 30 backdrops ranging from a flower-covered wall to a 10-foot piñata. The concept is exactly as the name implies — guests simply check in at the front desk, get a ring light, and are free to roam the space and snap away.
Selfie Factory is a side project by Rosa Maria Berdeja, an immigration attorney who offices at La Gran Plaza. After seeing the "selfie museum" concept on TikTok, Berdeja says she was inspired to bring a similar exhibit to Fort Worth. She and her brother, Juan Antonio Trevino, along with other family and friends, did most of the installations themselves, and also employed the talents of artist Ruben Orozco, who painted the "Love" graffiti wall, and Amauri Uscanga, who created a nearly 7-foot-tall Day of the Dead sculpture.
While most selfie museums — such as the popular Museum of Ice Cream or Snap151, which appeared in WestBend in 2019 — are primarily pop-up events that occupy a space for a short period of time, Selfie Factory is a permanent location, and backdrops will change periodically throughout the year.
The Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at noon, followed by a grand opening party featuring a DJ, margaritas, tacos, and more.
Selfie Factory's hours are noon – 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended to avoid a long wait upon arrival. Call 817-782-9719 for reservations and pricing information.
