Fort Worth artists now have their chance to paint the town — literally.
The Trinity River Distillery is hosting a contest this month to find the artist who conceptualizes the best design for its 100-year old iconic tower that overlooks Interstate 30 in Fort Worth.
The tower is located southeast of downtown in the historic former Ranch Style Beans plant that closed in 2009. The distillery, which opened last year, is home to the makers of Texas Silver Star Whiskey, Vodka and Honey Liqueur. Along with the mural being displayed for all westbound Interstate 30 travelers, the winner will receive $1,000 worth of Texas Silver Star Whiskey.
The design must cover a 60-foot-wide by 40-foot-tall wall and must be easily seen from 600 yards away. The judges are looking for designs that are inspirational, entertaining, informative and positive, and that display Fort Worth's history and sense of community.
“Trinity River Distillery looks forward to the opportunity to revive one of Fort Worth's quintessential landmarks,” said Thomas Neely, CEO and president of Trinity River Distillery. “We hope we can use this piece of history as a canvas to highlight Fort Worth's distinctive personality.”
Proposals must be a drawing or sketch and include a maximum 100-word description. It should also include artist name, address, phone number and e-mail address and submitted no later than Friday, Dec. 1. Proposals can be sent to [email protected].
