WestBend bookstore Commonplace Books has reached its final chapter.
The shop announced Tuesday it will close for good on May 22. In an Instagram post, Commonplace Books wrote: "It has been our privilege and joy to walk through the last year with you celebrating birthdays, marriages, and moves; and sitting with you in moments of hardship, grief, and growing pains. From having your littles at our Saturday morning story times to sharing a quiet glass of wine with you on winter evenings, this shop has been everything we’ve hoped for and more."
Commonplace Books opened in June 2019 with the intention of being a one-year pop-up at the WestBend development. However, the shop was forced to close early due to COVID-19, eventually leading to the decision not to reopen.
Until May 22, Commonplace Books will accept online orders for shipping and contactless pickup at the store.
The original Commonplace Books is located in Oklahoma City and is expected to reopen June 1.
