A fan favorite among Arlingtonians is making its way west to the Fort. Hurtado Barbecue, which serves up authentic, central Texas-style ‘cue, will open a third location in the Near Southside in August. The new brick and mortar will take over the space at 1116 8th Ave., the original location of Derek Allan’s Texas Barbecue.
Recently listed among the top 50 barbecue joints according to Texas Monthly’s annual and well-regarded rankings, the restaurant has amassed a devoted fanbase that causes long lines for a taste of the joint’s r hearty poblano sausage and smoked elotes.
This is not the restaurant’s only plan for expansion; Hurtado opened its second location off of Hardwicke Lane in Little Elm on June 10. But, it’s clear Fort Worth has long been on their radar.
“Fort Worth is where it’s happening right now,” owner Brandon Hurtado told PaperCity Fort Worth. “And there’s a lot of room for more barbecue.”
