BREWED
Like the rest of us stuck inside, some busying themselves with home improvement projects, the self-dubbed “Locals’ Living Room” is doing some rearranging of its own.
BREWED — the Magnolia Avenue gastropub often noted for its Instagram-friendly interior — is refreshing its design, going from industrial-chic to a more fresh, romantic aesthetic that gives the space “more sparkle,” co-owner Jana Clark says.
“A lot’s happened in design since we opened,” she says. “We don’t really have the need to be that fresh, light coffee shop that’s so trendy, but we want to have something that’s really cozy and romantic."
But more than just a whim set off by the temporary closure of BREWED’s dining room, the redesign of the space was also a business decision, Clark says. With business moving at a slower pace due to COVID-19, the owners spent time reevaluating their direction.
Clark says they noticed two things: One, BREWED tends to draw a stronger crowd for breakfast and brunch rather than dinner. At the same time, BREWED often gets requests from brides and businesses that wish to host an event at the space — requests the restaurant often has to turn down to stay true to its diners.
So, the owners decided to restructure — and while BREWED will continue to focus on breakfast and brunch, the restaurant will close at 3 p.m. and, in the evening, be available for private events.
Clark says BREWED will focus on small events between 60 to 200 guests. The restaurant can also create a menu for the event, as well as provide a bartender or barista if desired.
“We made a real hard decision to say, ‘What if we capitalize on our strengths and then give back to the community this 60- to 200-person event space that you could rent for small parties or have a small wedding?’” Clark says. “So, we decided to refresh the event space and give that back to the community.”
BREWED will reopen its dining room Saturday and Sunday for Mother’s Day weekend from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The following week, BREWED will open Friday – Sunday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
