Scotty Scott has always been a man of many talents. Whether he’s cooking up food that speaks to your soul, flipping grilled cheeses that redefine comfort food, or crafting culinary magic that gets the city buzzing, he’s never been one to take the easy route. And now, he’s doing it again — this time with a twist that brings the heat and the flavor to one of Fort Worth’s hottest spots: Tulips/Low Doubt Bar via his food concept called Abe Fromage.
Let’s rewind. Scotty Scott, the force behind Cook Drank Eat and the cookbook “Fix Me a Plate,” built a name for himself by transforming ordinary dishes into something extraordinary. His fan-favorite concept, Cheesy Does It, started as a pop-up, a tasty little secret that quickly turned into an undeniable sensation. After securing his spot in the hearts of Fort Worth foodies, this food truck grew from fleeting pop-ups to a permanent fixture, catching the attention of the “Today Show,” “Texas Monthly,” and pretty much every food lover’s go-to list. And now? Well, he’s bringing his signature cheesy, soul-warming creations to the patio at Tulips/Low Doubt Bar — one of the city’s hot spots for live music and bustling nightlife.
If you’ve never had the chance to taste Scott’s work, get ready for an experience. Picture a gouda grilled cheese with apple, mint, and truffle butter. Or, imagine duck fat fries, blistered pepper and cucumber salad, and the ultimate weekend brunch menu that includes everything from chicken and brown butter sweet potatoes to blackened shrimp with fried grits. It’s the kind of food that feels like home, but with a little extra kick.
With that in mind, Abe Fromage is opening its doors during the Southside Spillover on March 15-16, so if you’re heading out to catch a show or grab a drink, make sure you’re ready to chow down on something unforgettable. Scott’s taking it to the next level, blending his culinary prowess with the energy of one of the coolest venues in town. Oh, and don’t be surprised if you see some cameras rolling. Scott is filming an episode for Visit Fort Worth’s “Unexpected Flavors” chef series, and the footage might just make its way to the new location.
For Scott, the food truck wasn’t the plan — at least, not at first. “It was just a thought spinning around in my head,” he told Malcolm Mayhew in a 2023 interview. “I knew I wanted to do something, maybe something a little laid back, but after the book came out and everything took off, I started looking for spaces. Then I stopped by The Holly, and Liz Mears asked if I’d ever thought about doing a food truck. It made sense.”
Now, thanks to the magic of collaboration and his never-ending hunger to innovate, Scott’s serving up gourmet comfort food in a way that only he can. So if you’re in the neighborhood, you know where to find the kind of food that makes your day a little brighter. Abe Fromage at Tulips/Low Doubt Bar — because great music deserves great food.
