Owner Kathy Cox Mills-Hood was “thrown in the deep end” when she went to work for Ramona Bass in 1984. That’s where she learned everything she knows about how to host parties and events. That intense bootcamp ultimately led to her own catering and event planning company, Kathy Mills Productions.
After a stint using her organization skills in the nonprofit realm, Mills-Hood is ready to get back in the kitchen along with her executive chef Cary Garringer.
A sandwich called Thanksgiving 365 features roasted turkey, cornbread dressing, cran-cherry chutney, and mayo. The signature salad is called Cherry on Top with mixed greens, Mandarin orange, dried cranberries, candied pecans, and feta cheese tossed with citrus mango vinaigrette.
For added convenience, the refrigerator is stocked with grab-and-go selections of sandwiches and salads, along with prepared meals packaged for one or family-sized portions to feed four, ready to heat up for dinner when you get home later that evening.
On the catering side, which operates out of the same location, Cherry on Top Catering and Events is bustling on Saturday and Sunday, so in order to clear out some much-needed refrigerator space, Mills-Hood will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday to sell any leftover items from the week at a discount.
Check out Cherry on Top Kitchen and Catering from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at 5412 River Oaks Blvd. See more at cherryontopcateringandevents.com
