Henry Abuto
The family of Henry Abuto — best known for his catering company and food truck, ByWasonga — is raising funds to cover medical costs after the popular Fort Worth chef was hospitalized over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post, Abuto suffered a serious heart attack on Saturday. After his friends on site administered CPR, he was rushed to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he is currently intubated and sedated in critical condition. He is, however, responsive and able to communicate with his twin sister, Esther.
Abuto may be eligible for a heart transplant, but "due to a complication in Henry's insurance," he is unable to be transferred to another hospital for the care he needs, according to the post.
"Henry’s family is working around the clock to identify an insurance plan that can cover his needs," the post reads.
In the meantime, Abuto's family is asking for monetary donations to help pay for medical bills, living expenses, and possible follow-up care should he receive a heart transplant.
