Yucatan Taco Stand is shut down after the eatery racked up a total of 34 demerits in a routine health inspection Aug. 7 by the City of Fort Worth.
Magnolia Avenue is down one taco joint for now, but it’s probably for the better after what city health inspectors say they found.
Yucatan Taco Stand is shut down after the eatery racked up a total of 34 demerits in a routine health inspection Aug. 7 by the City of Fort Worth. The restaurant’s report is public on the city website, and details a laundry list of apparent hazards. That includes sewage back-ups, residue-covered surfaces, gnats occupying the kitchen, and raw meat not stored at appropriate temperatures, the report reads. The list goes on.
Fort Worth officials conducted a follow-up inspection the next day Aug. 8, but Yucatan Taco Stand was still handed 11 demerits. And the eatery doesn’t have a promising track record of health inspections, with unflattering reports ranging all the way back to August 2017.
Outside the entrance, a letter from Yucatan management reads, “We greatly apologize, customers, but we are temporarily shut down for today, Aug. 14. We are hoping to be back up and running tomorrow, Aug. 15 [at] normal hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may [have] caused you and hope to see you again.”
As of Thursday, the door at Yucatan Taco Stand was chained shut. The restaurant couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
The spot at 909 West Magnolia Ave. joins locations in Dallas, Houston, and Southlake that have also closed.
