We've invited some of our favorite local restaurants to serve up a few of their most critically-acclaimed dishes at our Best Of 2015 party and, we’ve got to tell you, each menu looks more delicious than the last. We’ll talk about the other restaurants elsewhere, but right now we want to get serious about barbecue.
Which will you choose?
First up, we've got Riscky's. The legendary barbecue joint is going traditional - chopped brisket smothered in their house sauce, on a classic white bread bun. They're pairing it with Granny's mac & cheese - a blatant (and delicious) attempt to fill you up before you have a chance to sample the competition.
Well played, Riscky's.
Our next candidate is Frankie's. This plucky little contender is more than a sports bar, and it knows it. Expect a strong showing as they've chosen to feature their house-pulled pork on brioche, but they are staying classic with the toppings - white onion, dill chips and a hefty shot of barbeque sauce.
The last entry into our Barbeque Battle is a surprising candidate, but a strong one. Bird Cafe specializes in New American, farm-to-table style fare - they're better known for their steak tartare than their ribs. On the other hand, if you think about it, what's more locavore than serving ribs in Texas? Even if they are serving those baby-backs with a Carolina-style sweet chili vinegar instead of a good old Texas rub.
We might tease them for their lack of regional loyalty, but, at the end of the day, we know that anything Chef David McMillan serves up is bound to be amazing.
With restaurants like these, it's shaping up to be a pretty serious competition. Don't worry, though. You don't really have to choose. We know they'll all be super tasty, and, since food is included in the cost of admission, you can sample each booth as many times as you need to.
