La Pulga
Some drinks are made for sipping, others for celebrating, and then there are those rare bottles that do both. Enter La Pulga 110, the latest boundary-pushing tequila release from Fort Worth’s own La Pulga Spirits — a brand built on tradition, passion, and just the right amount of rebellion.
The brainchild of three local entrepreneurs — Sarah Castillo, Andrew De La Torre, and Stephen Slaughter — La Pulga Spirits has quickly earned a reputation for delivering high-quality, no-nonsense tequila that stays true to its roots. Their latest release? A pair of limited-edition, high-proof tequilas — Blanco 110 and Reposado 110 — bottled at a bold 110 proof (55% ABV), the highest allowable by law.
“Very few high-proof tequilas are released at this strength,” says Dave Wiley, vice president of marketing at La Pulga Spirits. “But that’s a testament to the quality of our core liquid. Even at 110 proof, La Pulga 110 still delivers the smooth, full-agave flavor that bartenders and tequila lovers have come to expect from us.”
The magic happens at NOM 1068, the Jalisco distillery where La Pulga’s production team meticulously crafts each batch. To reach 110 proof, they first distill the tequila to 60% ABV, then reduce it using a rare aeration method — keeping water to a minimum to preserve the agave’s natural complexity. The result? A tequila that’s bold yet balanced, built for those who appreciate their spirits with depth and character.
La Pulga, named after the legendary Northside outdoor market where Fort Worth’s cultures collide in the best way possible, was born from its founders’ quest for a tequila that hit all the right notes — premium, additive-free, and still accessible. Turns out, if you can’t find it, you just make it yourself. And they did.
Now, La Pulga Spirits’ expanding lineup — which also includes their Wild Spirits portfolio of mezcal and sotol — is making waves across Texas. Available through Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC), you can find La Pulga at top bars, restaurants, and fine spirits retailers throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond. And if your local haunt isn’t stocked yet? A quick visit to their website gets you sorted.
La Pulga 110 Blanco retails at $64.99 for a 750ml bottle, while the Reposado comes in at $74.99. Both are dressed to impress in signature packaging, featuring an easy-to-pour design, a premium cork stopper, and a keepsake La Pulga medallion — a nod to the brand’s commitment to quality, community, and shared experiences.
