One of the newest sandwich/pub concepts located in Fort Worth’s West Side, at 6479 Camp Bowie Blvd., and Fairview will be closing its doors this weekend.
That’s right, folks, Boozie’s Brewery & Gourmet Sandwiches, the full-service brewpub that pickles its own sauerkraut will be shutting its doors on Sunday, chef David Hollister confirmed on Friday.
Hollister was joined by Bruce Conti and brewer Bobby Mullins in opening the two locations mere months ago. The location on Camp Bowie opened in January. Hollister said that on the business end “things just didn’t pan out the way we thought they would.”
But this isn’t the final nail, so to speak, in the Boozie’s concept.
According to Hollister, the Boozie’s moniker will live on as an actual brewery, which will open in Edgecliff Village in the building that once housed the Fort Worth Star-Telegram printing press at the intersection of Interstate 20 and Interstate 35W.
“The brewery was already under construction and that’s going to move forward, [but] both of the restaurants are done,” Hollister says. “It’s a move out of retail with an emphasis on manufacturing.”
Hollister says he will maintain his partnership in the company but is looking into doing something else outside of the realm of the kitchen.
“I’m going to take some time and kind of weigh my options, and see what I want to do from here,” Hollister says. “I’m looking at getting into the corporate side of food; I’m not really wanting to rush back into another kitchen.”
Boozie’s is offering $7 sandwiches with $5 you-call-its until the doors close this weekend, Hollister said.
“It’s all going to be upon availability,” he said. “We still have 25 pounds of sauerkraut in the fermentation container right now that’s ready today.”
Hollister said Boozie’s will more than likely offer its Reuben sandwich until it closes, but other items like the 100% Wagyu beef burgers are projected to be out of stock soon.
“We’re just trying to burn through inventory and make back as much money on product as we can before we shut the doors,” he says.
