Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar is bringing new brews to its soon-to-be second location.
The coffee shop — known for its funky flora-and-fauna theme — is opening another location in The River District at 4854 White Settlement Road by the end of the year.
According to founder Vic Esparza, Lazy Daisy had its sights set on the new space in what Esparza deemed a “coffee desert” before the pandemic. When the location hadn’t been claimed by the time the company was ready to expand, Esparza took it as sign.
“One of the hardest things as a budding business in a strong coffee community is that you’re almost constantly competing against other coffee shops in the area,” Esparza says. “It can be difficult to develop connections with your customer base when you are so close to everyone. And our goal is to provide a true neighborhood shop.”
While sharing a similar ambiance as the original, the new 3,500-square-foot space is nearly double the size and can accommodate more seating. Encased in windows that saturate the space in natural light, the company now has an opportunity to expand upon the brand and bring in more flowers and plants, Esparza says.
The new location also features a U-shaped bar where Lazy Daisy’s baristas can continue to engage with guests and embody the shop’s mission. Staff are encouraged to have intentional interactions with customers because “especially during this time, even a casual conversation can really brighten someone’s day,” Esparza says.
Customers can expect a similar menu as the Camp Bowie location, including Lazy Daisy’s specialty drinks and bounty of baked goods, but the shop will also start serving wines and beers later into the day.
While Lazy Daisy can’t quite reveal all that is to come at its second shop, Esparza says there are exciting surprises in the works.
