Victoria Esparza and Shayda Shah-Hosseini
Victoria Esparza and partner Shayda Shah-Hosseini plan to open Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar on Jan. 11 at 6475 Camp Bowie Blvd., right next door to Wild Acre Brewery’s second spot-to-be.
Two locals will soon be shaking the status quo of many modern coffeehouses in a new concept opening soon.
Co-founders Victoria Esparza and Shayda Shah-Hosseini plan to open Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar on Jan. 11 at 6475 Camp Bowie Blvd., right next door to Wild Acre Brewery’s second spot-to-be.
Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar aspires to be a comfort cafe in a decidedly warm, vibrant atmosphere. “A lot of cafes are now minimal, very white and very clean,” Esparza says. “We wanted to take a step back to have that coziness to where you can stay longer.”
The brand new coffee shop is described as '70s art deco, but “without going overboard.” Mustard yellow and deep blue will accent the space, Esparza says, alongside flora from Archie’s Gardenland. There's even a plan to eventually sell flowers out of Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar.
Esparza, who worked with Craftwork Coffee for more than a year, brings years of barista experience to the table in her new venture. She'll work as co-founder and cafe director with Shah-Hosseini, co-founder and director of operations. The pair began working together in July to iron out details in what they wanted to pursue.
“She was a regular at Craftwork,” Esparza says of her partner. “We ended up discussing what our goals were and hit if off really, really well.”
On the menu, all coffee will be supplied by Counter Culture Coffee. And unlike many shops, Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar will be serving two variations of chai — masala chai will be served in tandem with golden turmeric chai. All chais and teas will be sourced by Rishi Tea.
Two core specialty drinks will be in rotation all year: The Honeybee Latte and Holly Blue. The Honeybee incorporates a honey-based syrup, and the Holly Blue features butterfly pea powder and tonic spritzer in a sparkling lemonade beverage.
Expect a wide array of baked goods, too, from Stir Crazy Baked Goods. Esparza says the shop will always have vegan and gluten-free pastries available, as well as a wide variety of milks to suit many dietary restrictions.
"The biggest complaint I have heard in coffee shops is not having enough gluten-free or vegan snacks," Esparza says. "It's been our goal to pick a bakery that can supply such options and have amazing quality."
