Little Germany will relocate across town to 6737 Camp Bowie Blvd., taking over the building vacated this year by Denny’s.
Little Germany has been plagued by bridge construction since 2014 on White Settlement Road. The eatery, Currently at 703 N. Henderson St., found itself cut off from the major thoroughfare and the most direct route to their spot.
Owner Manuel Gonzales says, after nine years on Henderson, they’ve lost about 50 percent of business due to the construction. He’s now planning to relocate across town to 6737 Camp Bowie Blvd., taking over the building vacated this year by Denny’s.
Unlike in the Texas Hill Country, where you can throw a stone in just about any direction and hit a German restaurant, Fort Worth has relatively few options. There’s Greenwood’s located near TCU, on the Bluebonnet Circle, the Swiss Pastry Shop on West Vickery and Edelweiss on the Benbrook Traffic Circle, which will now be within a few blocks of Little Germany.
Specializing in authentic Bavarian style cuisine, Little Germany’s menu includes chicken schnitzel with potato salad and spaetzle; German-style beef steak with meatball, spaetzle, fried or grilled onions and sauerkraut; and German-style jaeger with breaded or grilled pork and mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Gonzales has over 40 years experience cooking German fare.
The new location is currently under construction and will provide more seating. Gonzales hopes that business will pick up with the steady traffic on that end of Camp Bowie.
Little Germany hopes to make the move in early January, but until then, the Henderson Street location will remain open.
