MELT Ice Creams
The surprise announcement that MELT Ice Creams is heading back to downtown Fort Worth is a welcome one, given the franchise’s history in the area.
In early September, MELT announced it would be closing its 308 Houston Street location in Sundance Square after five years of business due to a non-renewal on its lease. This news seemed to have a domino effect given two other businesses in the same area were also denied lease renewals, such as local comedy troupe Four Day Weekend, and the Reata Restaurant, which occupied the same building MELT was in.
This somewhat sad news sent ripple effects of support for MELT who quickly announced the official opening of its second newest location at 480 Shops Blvd, Suite 200 in Willow Park.
“We are delighted to open our newest location at The District and to be a part of this new growing community,” said Kari Crowe-Seher, MELT Ice Creams founder in a release. “We look forward to sharing our passion for ice cream with our new neighbors and creating sweet memories together.”
MELT’s new downtown spot will be located at 700 Main St., just steps from the Fort Worth Convention Center.
MELT original spot opened in Fort Worth’s Near Southside in 2014. Since then, this local cold treat business has opened shops in Dallas and the aforementioned Willow Park locale, amassing a following of cold treat fans, which also include some furry customers.
Known primarily for its small-batch, limited-edition ice creams, MELT is also available at several Central Markets, and Whole Foods, including many events throughout DFW.
MELT’s newest location is estimated to be open in early 2025, according to a release.
“I am thrilled to bring MELT back to the downtown Fort Worth community!” Crowe-Seher said. “We’re super excited to be close to all of the action at the Fort Worth Convention Center and to be part of the downtown scene once again.”
