Oktoberfest Fort Worth
Time to break out the lederhosen. Oktoberfest Fort Worth kicks off this Thursday.
The annual event returns to The Shack at Panther Island Pavilion (395 Purcey St), starting at 5 p.m., with Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker expected to tap the first keg at 7:30 p.m.
Attendees can expect a bevy of German food, from schnitzel and sausage to Bavarian soft pretzels and potato pancakes. Reata Haus will open as the festival's only table-service restaurant, serving authentic German cuisine and wines at its Weinbar. And, of course, bier-lovers can also hang in the biergartens, filling their steins with Spaten (the festival's main sponsor) and other craft beverages.
There will also be Midway rides, shopping, dancing, and live performances by Grammy-nominated Alex Meixner Band, Chardon Polka Band, Das Ist Lustig, AlpenMusikanten, Walburg Boys, Auf Geht’s, and more.
Other activities include a Non-Profit Olympics on Friday and additional competitions on Saturday.
