There is welcome change coming to Fort Worth starting this fall — and we're not just talking about the weather. Areas like the Near Southside, Clearfork and Sundance Square will be opening new restaurants beginning this September, making mouths water just a little — okay, a lot. Don't worry, we have you covered on what's expected to open these next couple of months.
Malai Kitchen
When it will open: September
Malai Kitchen will be among the first of a slew of restaurants that will open at The Shops at Clearfork in September. Set to occupy a 2,998-square-foot space at 5289 Monahans Ave., the restaurant will offer a fusion of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, serving dishes like Tom Kha Ga and Jungle Curry Hot Pot.
JOY Macarons
When it will open: September
Coming from Dallas, JOY Macarons is known for, as its name implies, French macarons, which come in flavors like Rose and Lychee, Honey and Lavender, and Violet and Black Currant. Add handmade ice cream, and it becomes an “Ice Cream Sammy.” The shop is set to open in an 800-square-foot space located at 5254 Marathon Ave.

This French-inspired restaurant will feature a sweet and savory souffle menu, with flavors ranging from escargot to pumpkin, along with its famous Marshmallow Soup. Spanning 3,044 square feet, the restaurant is set to open at The Shops at Clearfork in the coming weeks. Find it at 5135 Monahans Ave.
Mesero
When it will open: Fall 2017
Mesero will be opening its doors at The Shops at Clearfork sometime this fall. With a 5,742-square-foot space, Mesero will serve a re-imagined Tex-Mex menu in an upscale setting. This restaurant will be located at 5203 Marathon Ave.
Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar
When it will open: Fall 2017
Also coming to The Shops at Clearfork is Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar, which will offer a variety of American dishes from salads and hand-made pizzas, to pastas and steak entrees. With 7,083 square feet of space, this will be the Washington-based concept's debut in Texas. It will be located at 5289 Marathon Ave.
Doc B's Fresh Kitchen
When it will open: Fall 2017
Doc B's Fresh Kitchen will also be opening this fall at The Shops at Clearfork. Serving lunch and dinner, it will focus on house-made dishes, ranging from burgers to salads, as well as its signature “Wok Out Bowls.” The space will be 4,681 square feet, located at 5254 Marathon Ave.
City Works Eatery and Pour House
When it will open: Fall 2017
City Works Eatery and Pour House will offer an extensive craft beer list complemented by American cuisine with a modern flare. With a space spanning 8,269 square feet, the restaurant is meant to be more refined than the typical sports bar, priding itself on its state-of-the-art audio and HDTVs. It will be opening at 5188 Marathon Ave.
Fixe
When it will open: Fall 2017
Austin-based Fixe is also set for a fall opening. Expect southern cooking re-imagined by Chef James Robert, who created a menu inspired by his Louisiana roots. With 6,156 square feet of space, Fixe will serve its signature fried chicken and biscuits, and offer a Sunday brunch. It will be located at The Shops at Clearfork on 5282 Marathon Ave.
Eagle Mountain Tavern
When it will open: October
Eagle Mountain Tavern is opening in northwest Fort Worth, featuring a chef-inspired menu and a mixologist serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Set to open in October, Eagle Mountain Tavern will be located at 7255 Boat Club Road.
CRU Food & Wine Bar
When it will open: October
Opening at The Shops at Clearfork, CRU Food & Wine Bar will feature food and wine pairings, offering a menu that includes pizzas, cheeses, steaks and seafood. This 2,012-square-foot wine bar will be located at 5188 Marathon Ave.
B&B Butchers & Restaurant
When it will open: October
With 7,362 square feet of space, this Houston-based restaurant is coming to The Shops at Clearfork. Located at 5212 Marathon Ave., B&B Butchers & Restaurant will be serving the Texas and Japanese Wagyu beef, along with an extensive wine collection and an attached butcher shop for meat lovers to swoon over.
Taste Community Restaurant
When it will open: October
Opening in the Near Southside, Taste Community Restaurant's menu will have no prices and simply asks customers to pay what they can. It will serve items like soup, salad, sandwiches and world-inspired entrees like Asparagus Risotto and Vietnamese Fried Rice. It will occupy a 3,000-square-foot space at 1200 South Main St.
La Zona
When it will open: End of October
La Zona is set to open in Magnolia Village at 1264 W. Magnolia Ave. With two concepts being combined — “Hotel Madrid” and “St. Sofia” — the space will span 1,883 square feet. La Zona will be serving tapas, churros, pizza, beer, and Spanish-inspired coffee. Expect colorful walls and “abuela's” home-inspired vibes designed by Coevál Studio, the same team behind Americado and Cork & Pig.
203 Cafe
Expected Opening Date: November
The owners of Reata are opening a casual cafe in Sundance Square. The 2,200-square-foot restaurant will serve breakfasts and lunches, focusing on signature sandwiches that can be conveniently taken back to the office. It will be located at 203 Commerce St.
85°C Bakery Cafe
When it will be open: Late November or early December
Named for the supposed temperature that best holds the flavor of coffee, this Taiwanese bakery is opening its doors in Left Bank at 628 Harrold St., offering 60 varieties of breads, 50 varieties of pastries, and 40 drinks — including coffee, smoothies and sea salt beverages, which feature sea salt foam on top. The space will be 2,500 square feet and has a completion date of early December.
El Bolero
When it will open: December
Dallas' El Bolero will open a Fort Worth location fall in the Crockett Row development along West Seventh Street. The restaurant will be serving made-from-scratch dishes inspired by recipes found across Mexico. The 4,200-square-foot space, at 2933 Crockett St., will be designed by Coevál Studio.
Pakpao
When it will open: January
Also a Dallas offshoot and soon-to-be-neighbor to El Bolero, Pakpao will also be coming to Crockett Row this winter. Pakpao is known for its robust dishes influenced by the street food of Bangkok and the diverse regions of Thailand. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will be located at 2932 Crockett St. Coevál Studio will be behind the Pakpao design also.
Tinie's Mexican Rotisserie and Cocktail Lounge
When it will open: March 2018
The cousin of Taco Head's is coming to town — that is, Tinie's Mexican Rotisserie and Cocktail Lounge. Located in the Near Southside at 113 South Main St., Tinie's will be a Mexican family-style restaurant concentrated heavily on Oaxacan-style rotisserie. The restaurant will be 4,868 square feet upon completion.
Locust Cider
When it will open: March 2018
Fort Worth's first cidery is expected to open in March 2018 in the Near Southside. Locust Cider will offer on-tap ciders and simple selections of cheese and meat trays, allowing people to BYOF (bring or order your own food). The cidery will be 3,500 square feet and will be located at 710 South Main St.
Luna Grill
When it will open: Early 2018
San Diego-based Luna Grill offers fresh-to-order Mediterranean cuisine served in a casual setting, featuring a menu of items including falafel and kabobs. Set to open in The Shops at Clearfork, this Mediterranean grill will have a 2,403-square-foot space at 5239 Marathon Ave.
