On October 28, the Michelin Guide will unveil its much-anticipated 2025 Texas edition at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts in Houston, according to a press release. As the day approaches, the excitement is palpable among chefs and food lovers alike, all eager to see which local talents will be honored with prestigious Michelin Stars and other accolades.
“Last year marked a milestone for the Texas restaurant industry, and we’re excited to continue celebrating the state’s exceptional culinary talent at this year’s ceremony,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide.
The Guide itself was originally launched in France at the beginning of the 20th century to promote car travel and tire sales by offering practical advice to drivers. Over time, it has evolved to focus on recommending restaurants and hotels. Michelin's inspectors continue to apply the same criteria and selection methods that were established at the outset.
Since launching in North America with the New York Guide in 2005, the Michelin Guide has expanded its reach, shining a spotlight on exceptional dining across major cities like Chicago, Washington D.C., and California. The introduction of the Texas edition in 2024 marked a critical moment, underscoring the Lone Star State’s growing prominence on the global culinary stage.
In a remarkable kickoff to this celebration last November, three Fort Worth restaurants and one in Arlington were honored. Fort Worth's Goldee’s Bar-B-Q, Panther City Barbecue, and Birrieria Y Taqueria Cortez, along with Arlington's Smoke ‘N Ash BBQ, all received an inaugural nod.
Also, Goldee’s nabbed the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand award, which honors value restaurants with exceptional food. Owned and established by a group of lifelong friends, Goldee’s boasts yet another accolade for its distinguished barbecue, outside of being named No.1 in the state by Texas Monthly last year.
