
Cristobal Vazquez, is jumping in on the popular competing chefs craze. The executive chef at Globe Life Park for the Texas Rangers, will appear on the Food Network series, Chopped. Vazquez is one of four chefs of Major League Baseball teams competing in an episode titled “Big Hitters.”
Hosted by Ted Allen, the judges will be Amanda Freitag, Scott Conant and Marc Murphy. Each round will have a basket of ingredients that have a connection to baseball. The first round basket will have typical game-day eats, including Italian sausage. In the second round, the chefs will get flank steak. The third is a dessert round that is centered around blueberries.
The other competitors will be Josh Distenfeld, Executive Chef for the Baltimore Orioles, Jessica Helms, Executive Chef for the St. Louis Cardinals and James Majors, Executive Chef for the Cincinnati Reds. The “Big Hitters” episode will air tonight at 7 p.m. CST.
