12 oz Smoked Sirloin, Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House
TCU students and steak lovers alike once flocked to Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House for signature Brau Chips and a good sirloin in an unpretentious, family-friendly atmosphere.
But alas, after 38 years on University Drive, Hoffbrau is closing its doors for good.
Owners Aron and Rainey Fogiel announced the closure in a Facebook post over the weekend: "It has been an honor to serve each and every one of you who has passed through these doors since our opening in 1982. This was a very hard decision for us to come to and we are heartbroken to be leaving."
Hoffbrau, which closed both its dining room and takeout service due to COVID-19, had originally planned to reopen its Fort Worth location on June 1. However, according to the Facebook post, the restaurant was "unable to come to an agreement with our landlord that would benefit all parties and allow us to survive the uncertainty ahead."
Hoffbrau still plans to resume dine-in service and add curbside/to-go at its other locations in Amarillo, Granbury, Benbrook, and Haltom City. The restaurant's Amarillo and Granbury locations reopened Monday; its Benbrook and Haltom City locations will reopen May 18.
In their post, the Fogiels teased the possibility of opening another location in Fort Worth: "Please know that this is not the end of our story; we look forward to the possibility of another Fort Worth location in the future. This is not goodbye, it is see you soon!"
