Call for entries: callling all artists, writers, music composers!
This is a call to artists and creators to submit entries for Good Morning/Mourning America.
Immergent in partnership with Gallery 440 invites artists, essayists, poets, musicians and other creators to submit works of art according to the following guidelines representing a range of personal expressions and points of view on the title theme: Good Morning/Mourning America.
The Good Morning/Mourning America multi-media exhibition offers a basis to explore in depth the emotion and creativity sparked by today’s current political and cultural climate. Whether perspectives of division, abrasion or balm, art and its imagery have a way of evoking and perhaps bridging discord in ways that words cannot. With the title of the exhibition — Good Morning/Mourning America — acting as the sole prompt, works of art, music and written word (poetry, essays) will be solicited by those in the surrounding Fort Worth community and curated for both balance and representative and unique perspectives. This exhibition, supplemented by a facilitated gallery talk and digital catalog, seeks to bring members of the surrounding community together to facilitate individual and collective reflection, spark curiosity, and perhaps bridge to a reality that we actually may have more in common than not. As Katherine Porter wrote:
When all about you may be destroyed or lying in the dust . . . it is the arts that will define us as a civilization. The arts revitalize. They’re food for the soul. They transport us. They inspire us. They humble us. They create a bridge for us worldwide in ways that really nothing else can. They are the best common denominator for the proliferation of good in the world. They are also the mirror from which we can view humanity.
