One of North Texas’s very first gardening supply companies is in the process of moving.
That’s right — after nearly 15 years in Grapevine, Marshall Grain Co., a 76-year-old locally-owned organic garden center and pet supply store, is moving to a new, as yet undisclosed, location, according to a release.
So, what’s the reason for the move?
According to Marshall Grain Co. president, Jim Connelley, the company has been planning on relocating to a new facility for several months since its current lease at 3525 William D Tate Avenue is expiring. This move is part one in a series that will eventually end at a permanent location that will include a greenhouse, nursery, covered warehouse, and corporate offices. In addition, this location will also house Marshall Grain's landscape services operation.
In the meantime, the company has leased a temporary location in Hurst at 3417 Raider Drive Suite 9. This temporary location will not include any retail space, but the company will offer online and Shop-By-Phone services. Marshall Grain will also offer free curbside pickup and local delivery to Colleyville, Grapevine, Southlake, Hurst, Euless, and Bedford. Delivery will also be available to customers in other nearby communities for an additional charge.
Aren’t sure if you live in an area where you can get a delivery? Give the store a call at its current telephone number 817-416-6600. This number will remain the same during the company’s current transition.
This relocation is most definitely not this company’s first foray into a different area of Cowtown either. Over the years, the business has moved several times to different Fort Worth locations, including one in the stockyards.
Marshall Grain Co. actually started out on East Lancaster Avenue, about two miles east of downtown in 1946. This company was the brainchild of its namesake, C. B. Marshall, who started supplying eggs to the city of Fort Worth from his downtown store back in 1914. Marshall Grain was also one of the first garden supply companies in North Texas to begin carrying organic gardening supplies in the 1980s and continues to be the largest organic garden center in North Texas. This company opened at its Grapevine location in March 2009.
Today, Marshall Grain Co. maintains a large plant nursery stocked with Texas Natives and adapted plants that will thrive in the harsh North Texas climate, as well as in-season herbs and vegetables, tropical plants, and houseplants. Other product offerings include a curated selection of organic gardening supplies such as fertilizers, weed controls, soil amendments, mulches, and insect controls. Other items include wild bird supplies, gardening tools, statuary, yard art, and selected pet supplies.
