An abundance of Fort Worth area organizations and businesses are canceling or postponing events as COVID-19 (coronavirus) spreads throughout North Texas and the US.
This running list will be continuously updated as highly trafficked areas of Fort Worth announce closures.
Amphibian Stage
Public programming for the month of March is canceled or postponed for the month of March at Amphibian Stage.
Affected programming includes:
- Steven Castillo - Comedy Residency - March 17-21
- Hansard - National Theatre Live - March 18 and 21
- Tad-Poles Stilt Classes - March 21 and 28
- Avery Moore - Sets on Sets - March 26-27
Amon Carter Museum of American Art
The Amon Carter will be closed until April 1.
Bass Performance Hall
Performing Arts Fort Worth made the decision to cancel all events scheduled at Bass Performance Hall, McDavid Studio, and the Van Cliburn Recital Hall through March 31.
Affected performances include:
- Schumann & Shostakovich, March 13-15, presented by Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra
- Alive at the Bass, March 17, presented by University Christian Church (rescheduled for Sept. 15)
- Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, March 20-22, presented by Performing Arts Fort Worth
- Image, Imbue & Bartok, March 27-29, presented by Texas Ballet Theater
- All private events and tours scheduled at Bass Hall, McDavid Studio and the Van Cliburn Recital Hall
Event ticket holders will be contacted by the presenting organizations via email and social media. No action is required.
Fort Worth Aviation Museum
The Fort Worth Aviation Museum is temporarily closed to the public from March 15 to April 1.
Fort Worth Botanic Garden
Fort Worth Botanic Garden will temporarily close effective 6 p.m. March 19 through April 15. Activities related to the GROW collaboration are also cancelled, but will continue online for virtual educational activities, gardening features, and more.
Fort Worth ISD
Fort Worth ISD’s spring break will be extended for at least two weeks through March 27. Additionally, the public school district is exploring online engagement activities, according to a district statement.
Fort Worth Municipal Libraries and Community Centers
City libraries will be closed through March 29, including all classes and events.
Fort Worth Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo will be closer from March 14-23. The cancellation includes the preschool program, educational programs, and private events.
The Grand Berry Theater
The Grand Berry Theater is closed indefinitely "until it is safe."
Heim Barbecue
Heim Barbecue dining rooms on Magnolia Avenue and White Settlement Road are closed until March 17. Food is still for sale to-go and available for pickup at both locations by calling ahead or online ordering at HeimBBQ.com. Delivery is available for orders over $300.
Kimbell Art Museum
The Kimbell Art Museum is temporarily closed, effective March 13.
Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth will be closed March 14-30.
National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame has closed and canceled all events through March 21.
Stage West
Stage West will be closed to the public until April 20.
Affected performances include Children, March 19 - April 12. Ticket holders can visit stagewest.org/news/coronavirus-update to learn more.
Sundance Square
Sundance Square has canceled all events scheduled to be held in Sundance Plaza and the Pavilion through March 31.
Sid Richardson Museum
The Sid Richardson Museum will be closed beginning March 17 and remain closed through March 29.
Stockyards Visitor Center
The Stockyards Visitor Center is closed through March 27.
Tarrant County College
TCC is extending spring break from March 15-22. Class instruction will resume on March 23. Students are told to expect to hear from their instructors via email explaining how coursework will continue for the semester.
Tarleton State University
Spring break on all campuses will be extended for an additional week (March 16-20). Classes will resume on Monday, March 23.
Texas Christian University
TCU is extending spring break through the week of March 16-20 and will move from in-person instruction to online classes beginning March 23-April 3.
Texas Wesleyan University
TWU will also suspend on-campus classes beginning March 16 and transition to online instruction on March 23. Current online classes remain unchanged.
Affected events
2020 Cowtown Goes Green and Parade
The 2020 Cowtown Goes Green and Parade is canceled. Threats from the coronavirus pandemic led authorities to call for the cancellation of the event, organizers say. The Fort Worth Stockyards businesses will remain open.
2020 MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival
The 2020 MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival (MAIN ST.) from April 16-19 has been postponed, with a tentative date of Sept. 3-6.
Billy Bob's Texas
Several concerts and attractions at Billy Bob's Texas are canceled or postponed. Further details at billybobstexas.com/news/9800.
Butterflies in the Garden
Butterflies in the Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden will close from March 15-21.
Fortress Festival
Fortress Festival’s fourth annual music festival will be postponed and rescheduled from its original dates of April 25-26 in Fort Worth. All tickets for the April event will be honored for soon-to-be-announced rescheduled dates.
Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival
The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival has been rescheduled to Oct. 22-25.
Fort Worth Herd
The twice-daily cattle drive in the Fort Worth Stockyards is paused through March 27.
Gran Fondo Hincapie
The 2020 Gran Fondo Hincapie-Fort Worth event, set to take place March 28, is canceled.
Mule Alley Block Party
The Mule Alley Block Party, originally slated for March 21-22 featuring MB Mercantile & Supply, is postponed.
NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships Tournaments
The NCAA has canceled the Women's Gymnastics Championships.
Stockyards Championship Rodeo
There will be no Stockyards Championship Rodeo on March 20-21.
Tarrant Area Food Bank
TAFB is cancelling Empty Bowls, their March signature fundraising event. Tarrant Area Food Bank hopes to reschedule in the future; however, due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, details are not known at this time.
The Sinclair
The Sinclair will be postponing the Mixers & Makers event until further notice.

Although there is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the best way to prevent infection is to take the following precautions:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
