AHA Walk
Heart Walk, held by American Heart Association
Like many events in 2020, the American Heart Association's (AHA) signature Heart Walk took on a virtual format as many practiced social distancing amid the pandemic.
This year, AHA is bringing Heart Walk back and in-person — while also allowing others to participate from wherever they are.
The Tarrant County Heart Walk, scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m., will take place at Texas Live! in Arlington (the Dallas event will take place simultaneously at the base of Reunion Tower). The theme is "Heart Walk Here," encouraging participants to either walk the event path or embark on their own trek, whether it be a park, their neighborhood sidewalk, or any other venue of their choice.
“The past year has shown us that no matter where we are, we can come together for a common cause,” Tarrant County Heart Walk chair Michael Klein said in a statement. “The Heart Walk is all about promoting the health and well-being of our community and supporting our lifesaving mission.”
Funds raised during the Heart Walk go toward research, advocacy, CPR training, and the promotion of better health in support of the association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, an effort to reduce barriers to health care access and quality, according to AHA.
