City and county leaders joined officials with the Southern Land Company on Wednesday in formally opening the Deco, the new $150 million mixed-use high rise in downtown, the first luxury residential tower built in the central business district in 30 years.
The 567,000-square-foot tower is at 969 Commerce St.
“This $150 million investment marks a significant milestone in the urban development of Fort Worth, adding a new landmark to the city’s skyline,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. “Deco is the first luxury residential tower to be built in downtown Fort Worth in 30 years, marking the start of what will bring even more residential housing in our urban core.”
In addition to Parker, speakers included Southern Land founder and CEO Tim Downey, City Councilmember Elizabeth Beck, Tarrant County Commissioner Roy Brooks, Downtown Fort Worth inc. President Andy Taft, and Carlos De La Torre, Fort Worth Downtown Neighborhood Alliance president.

The ground level will soon be home to Broadway 10 Bar & Chophouse (B|10). The 8,500-square-foot restaurant will feature a menu showcasing hand-cut steaks and seafood grilled over a blend of pecan, oak, and hickory woods. Hand-rolled sushi will also be available.
B|10 is expected to open early next year.
Designed by Dallas-based GDA Architects, Deco’s façade reflects the Art Deco architecture and design throughout Fort Worth. The tower’s interiors, which also reflect the vintage aesthetic, were designed by Dallas-based Faulkner Design Group.
The Deco features more than 300 apartments ranging in size from 684 square feet to 1,582 square feet starting at just over $2,000 a month. There are also six penthouses starting at just over $6,000 a month and ranging in size from 1,157 square feet to 2,793 square feet.
An eight-level parking garage is also on the property.
“We are excited to welcome residents home to Deco, downtown Fort Worth’s newest high-rise residential offering in more than three decades,” said Downey. “Stunning Art Deco-inspired design, luxurious amenities, and a prime location steps from Sundance Square puts Deco in position to redefine urban living in Fort Worth. We are proud to contribute to the city’s growth and provide a home that residents will cherish for years to come.”
The community’s amenities include a multi-level rooftop deck with a pool and spa on the 24th floor, a poolside bar and lounge, as well as a 180-inch poolside jumbotron. The Nouveau Sky Lounge on that floor offers a fully equipped demonstration kitchen with a wraparound bar, billiards, and incredible views.
The complex also has an athletic studio equipped with video-enabled treadmills, Peloton bikes, free weights, and Echelon mirror; dedicated dog grooming spa; lobby lounge with social bar; bicycle repair shop; and onsite concierge from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“Deco ushers in a new era of downtown Fort Worth living,” said Taft. “As Downtown’s premier apartment community, Deco sets the Downtown lifestyle bar higher than ever. Southern Land’s design, finishes, amenities, proximity to jobs, dining, entertainment, and commuter rail takes the ease and convenience of downtown’s lock-and-leave high-rise living to new levels.”
