The City of Fort Worth's boil water notice has now extended to West Fort Worth.
The notice affects from Montgomery Street westward, as well as Aledo, White Settlement, and Westover Hills, which purchase drinking water from Fort Worth. This map shows the specific areas of West Fort Worth that are affected.
North Fort Worth residents, who first received the notice earlier this week, should also continue boiling their water prior to consumption (that is, washing hands and face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.).
Public water system officials will notify residents when the boil water notice is no longer in effect.
The notice comes as the city continues to grapple with the affects of this week's winter storms, which have left many without power, heat, and water. The below-freezing temperatures have also caused a large number of main breaks, resulting in a loss of water system pressure.
The city recommends bringing water to a vigorous rolling boil then boiled for two minutes in order to destroy harmful bacteria. Or, as an alternative, residents can also simply purchase bottled water or obtain water from another safe source.
