Ashley Clement is stepping into a groundbreaking role as the first-ever deputy director of the Fort Worth Fire Department, according to the City’s website. This appointment marks a new chapter for the department and highlights her commitment to public service, along with her extensive experience in budgeting and financial management.
In her new position, Clement will focus on enhancing fire services and overseeing the integration of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) into the department. She has a clear vision, with two primary priorities: addressing the community's needs while maintaining fiscal responsibility and planning for long-term sustainability.
Clement’s career began in 2008 in private healthcare administration, followed by work in the nonprofit sector starting in 2011. In healthcare, she utilized statistical analysis and performance metrics to drive operational efficiency. Her responsibilities included staffing, patient billing, and cash management, where she provided real-time performance reports to executives, facilitating informed and strategic decisions. Clement also played a vital role in streamlining operations, enhancing outcomes, and improving service delivery.
Her career path continued in public schools, where she co-managed debt service for infrastructure funding and oversaw the coordination of grant and activity funds across multiple campuses. By developing capital plans and sustainable strategies, she worked closely with cross-functional teams to ensure long-term success and financial stability.
Clement transitioned to the City of Fort Worth in 2014, beginning as a senior accountant. What started as a temporary position evolved into a long-term career. Through various roles in finance and budgeting—including senior analyst, financial reporting manager, and assistant finance director—she demonstrated leadership and adaptability. In her most recent role, she played a pivotal part in launching the Fort Worth Lab, further solidifying her reputation as a forward-thinking, results-driven leader.
Clement holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, along with a minor in psychology. This unique combination of skills in data analysis and human behavior informs her leadership approach.
Outside of work, Clement is a fitness enthusiast and a proud mother of a teenage daughter, who excels in tennis and is a talented flutist. Recently, she has also taken up pickleball, humorously inviting fellow novices to join her on the court.
