Scams aren't cool, but sadly, at least 1,000 residents in the Fort Worth area fell victim in 2020, according to the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
The BBB recently released a report on 2020 scam trends for the Fort Worth area (which includes Tarrant, Wise, Palo Pinto, Parker, Tarrant, Erath, Hood, Johnson, and Somervell counties). Information comes from BBB Scam Tracker Data between Jan. 1 – Dec. 16, 2020.
According to the report, the BBB saw at least 1,000 scams reported, with victims losing a collective $492,990. Phone was the primary means of contact, and most consumers were above the age of 55 (260 people), followed by individuals ages 35 – 44 (206) and those ages 45 – 54 (197).
