April is recognized as National Autism Awareness Month. About one in 88 children has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder, according to estimates from CDC's Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network.
The Autism Treatment Center (ATC) recently expanded to Fort Worth and its surrounding counties. It is only the third ATC location in the state and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The ATC Therapy Clinic provides autism-spectrum outpatient therapy for children and adults in North Texas. In addition to occupational and speech therapy, the ATC Therapy Clinic will soon offer applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy.
The Child Study Center is another organization that serves children who have, or are at risk for, developmental disabilities and related behavioral and emotional problems. The Child Study Center currently offers ABA therapy to children with autism spectrum disorders to improve important areas of a daily life, including communication, social skills, academic skills, leisure skills and essential self-help skills. -FWTX Staff
