TCU
On July 15, Jeremy Vickers will assume one of the most influential — and least visible — roles at TCU. As the new Chief of Staff to Chancellor Daniel W. Pullin, Vickers joins the inner circle of leadership at TCU, where he will serve as senior advisor, strategist, and key facilitator of the university’s ongoing transformation.
His responsibilities are wide-ranging. As Chief of Staff, Vickers will oversee Cabinet operations, guide executive communications, manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, and serve as Secretary of the Board of Trustees — a role that includes maintaining governance records and coordinating all Board logistics, according to a release. In short, Vickers will be at the center of just about everything that keeps TCU running at full steam.
“Jeremy comes to TCU sharing in our values of integrity, engagement, community and excellence,” Pullin said in a statement. “His entrepreneurial mindset, passion for higher education, and dedication to leadership excellence make him a perfect fit for this impactful role.”
Vickers brings two decades of experience in higher education, innovation, and strategic planning. Most recently, he served as Associate Vice President at Baylor University, where he led major initiatives in research, economic development, and external partnerships. Before that, he held leadership roles at Dallas Baptist University and the University of Texas at Dallas, where he also taught courses in entrepreneurship, strategic management, leadership communication, philanthropy, and public service.
A graduate of Baylor University with a Ph.D. in public affairs from UT-Dallas and a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from SMU, Vickers has spent his career aligning ideas with action — often across complex systems. At TCU, he’ll be expected to do the same, advancing the goals of the university’s “Lead On: Values in Action” strategic plan while reinforcing a campus culture grounded in mission and momentum.
“TCU is a university on the rise,” Vickers said. “The Horned Frogs’ national reputation for excellence in academics, the student experience and athletics is a reflection of its dedicated people, values, culture and community. With the leadership of Chancellor Pullin and a bold, new strategic plan, the future is bright.”
The nationwide search that led to Vickers’s appointment was directed by Yohna Chambers-Hastings, Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer, with input from stakeholders across the university. He succeeds Jean M. Pickett, who served as Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Board of Trustees for more than a decade and transitioned to a senior advisor role in February. Dr. Lauren Nixon and Janine Cox served in interim leadership roles while the search was underway.
“I look forward to working with Trustees, university leaders, students, faculty, staff, alumni and the broader community to achieve our vision and advance TCU’s mission,” Vickers said.
