The budget for Phase I of the Sycamore Park master plan is $1.2 million and includes priority amenities like hiking and biking trails, a new playground and a parking lot.
The city of Fort Worth’s parks and recreation department has revealed the rough draft for Sycamore Park’s master plan.
Members of the community, including police officers and activists, gathered Jan. 7 at the Sycamore Community Center to give their feedback on the historic park’s redesign. The presentation was the second public meeting for the project and featured survey results for the park’s top amenities.
Landscape architect Jing Yang said the department will make adjustments based on community recommendations, including proposals for new soccer and football fields, softer surfaces for trails and open lawns for public gatherings.
The final plan and estimated costs will be completed by the end of January, according to the project timeline.
Yang said the department will present the master plan to the City of Fort Worth Park Board at the end of February before seeking further endorsement.
“After the Park Board endorses the master plan, we will adopt it and start the Phase 1 development with available funding,” Yang said.
The budget for Phase I is $1.2 million and includes priority amenities like hiking and biking trails, a new playground and a parking lot.
